Week 1 Day 1

Day 1
I"washed" using 1 1/2 tbsp baking soda and 1 cup of water. Then "conditioned" with 1 tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar and 1 cup of water then let my hair air dry. My hair is a little dry to the touch, but not frizzy. I usually cannot let it air dry after shampooing and conditioning with store bought products because it turns into a frizzy mess. I also have read that if your hair is dry after the wash to try using less baking soda...on my next wash I will use just 1 tbsp. I am very hopeful after the first days results!!

This is what I will be using now!!

Jumping head first into the 30 day "No Poo" Challenge

I have decided to take the "No Poo" challenge...meaning I am not going to use store bought shampoo and conditioner any more instead I will use baking soda and apple cider vinegar. At first I thought like many of you are probably thinking...EWWWW you are not going to wash your hair?! Believe me it took some convincing. I am used to washing my hair daily because I am extremely paranoid about having oily/greasy hair, I blame this on my childhood. When I was young my mother would have to put ointment on my scalp due to Psoriasis flair ups...when she did this it earned me the nickname "Grease Monkey" from my oh so loving older brothers. In high school my paranoia got so bad I would wash my hair about 3-4 times a day!!! Now as a 28 year old I am learning about how bad Shampoo and Conditioners can be on your scalp and for your hair. I continue to battle Psoriasis on my scalp and that is my driving force for taking this challenge. I plan to take pictures and explain week to week progression of this challenge.I hope to not only clear my scalp, but also save a little money.
